Pan-Nordic-Baltic HealthTech Accelerator!
We’re exploring the opportunity to build a second-phase HealthTech accelerator for startups that has finished their local startup programs and want to expand internationally to other Nordic and Baltic countries. Share your thoughts as a startup, investor och ecosystem stakeholder in our short survey about your thoghts regarding this concept - and be among the first to receive updates as the initiative moves forward!
Overview
The Pan-Nordic-Baltic HealthTech Accelerator is a collaborative pre-study project aiming to pave the way for a startup accelerator that helps HealthTech startups expand across borders in the Nordic-Baltic region. The project focuses on tackling fragmentation in healthcare innovation, identifying shared challenges, and preparing a scalable, cross-border solution.
Project Timeline: December 1, 2024 – September 30, 2025
Lead Partner: DigitalWell Ventures (Sweden)
Project Partners: Health Founders (Estonia), Digital Health Association (Latvia), Startup Lithuania (Lithuania)
Funded by: SI - The Swedish Institute
Why this project matters
Healthcare systems in the Nordic-Baltic region are under pressure from rising costs, aging populations, and workforce shortages. Despite a strong appetite for digital innovation, HealthTech startups often face barriers such as:
Fragmented regulations and different market conditions
Lack of investor and pilot project collaborations
Poor cross-border funding coordination
Limited internationalization experience in the team
This development project is designing a framework that could support startups beyond their local accelerators and support them to easier scale across the region.
Cross-Border Advantages
A pan-regional approach unlocks opportunities that national efforts can’t achieve alone:
Market knowledge and regulatory insights for each specific country
Easier market entry - specific support and connections in each country
Access to a broader international investor network, potential new pilot projects and partnerships
Shared strategies and tactics for internationalization
This framework could set the stage for a more unified Nordic-Baltic HealthTech ecosystem.
What we are doing
We’re building the foundation for a potential international common accelerator program by:
Conducting a needs analysis among startups and stakeholders
Developing and refining a cross-border accelerator concept
Exploring future funding and scaling strategies for the accelerator
The activities are designed to generate a concept that’s both actionable and ready for implementation for those that want to participate in the next step.

Next steps
